Origin, diffusion and economic characteristics

Origin: U.S.A. - Improved in Germany

American breed originally from Massachusetts, selected in 1868. by crossing the Dominican with the Cocincina and the black Java. Imported to Germany in 1948 obtaining a great success among breeders.
It seems that the name was given by German breeders, from the abbreviation of Amerikan rocks. In Germany, the dwarf variety was also selected.
Excellent laying hen (minimum weight 55 grams and cream to brownish shell) and meat producer. Chicks are self-sexable at birth.
Double attitude chicken, quite large in size and with rounded shapes. Seeking endurance, rapid growth and good fruitfulness. Limit the propensity to hatching.

Morphological characteristics

The only variety with a crossed coat.
The rooster coat is lighter.
Big head with simple crest, straight in both sexes.
Large eye with dark red iris. Mumps and red wattles. Medium neck with abundant cape. wide abdomen and back. Medium wings close to the body. Large tail and medium length. Short legs with yellow tarsi.

1- FORM
Trunk: Of medium length, wide, full, with slightly rising back line.
Head: Medium size, oval.
Beak: Short, strong, curved.
Big eyes.
Crest: Simple, medium large, five teeth.
Bargigli: Medium sized, red, fine and smooth texture.
Face: Red and smooth.
Mumps: Red, medium size.
Neck: Of medium length, with abundant cape.
Broad shoulders.
Back: Wide.
Ali: Well raised and carried very close to the body.
Tail: Of medium length, with well rounded sickles.
Chest: Wide, deep and well rounded.
Legs: Legs of medium length; medium long tarsi, four fingers, without feathers.
Musculature: Well developed.
Pigmentation: Very intense.
Belly: Wide, full, well developed particularly in the hen.
Skin: Soft, yellow.
