Dual-purpose breed.
The breed is widespread in Italy.

Morphological characteristics

I - GENERALITIES

Origin
Holland, near Welsum (Ussel valley).

Egg
Minimum weight 65 g.
Shell color: dark brown not bright.

II - TYPE AND ADDRESSES FOR THE SELECTION
Breed with dual attitude, rustic, it lays dark brown and very big eggs; hens have a low, full belly. Chicken with cylindrical body, elongated; horizontal position and average height; plumage firmly tightened to the body.

III - STANDARD
General appearance and characteristics of the breed

1- FORM
Trunk: deep and cylindrical, medium length; horizontal posture.
Head: of medium size.
Beak: medium length; yellow to horn color.
Eyes: large and expressing vivacity; orange red iris.
Crest: simple; of just medium size; fine texture; bright red; regular indentation, fairly deep; the lobe follows the line of the nape without touching it.
Bargigli: quite short; well rounded; fine texture and bright red color.
Face: bright red and not feathered.
Orecchioni: rather small and almond-shaped; fine texture and bright red color.
Neck: just of medium length; well-developed cape covering the shoulders.
Shoulders: wide and not prominent.
Back: of a good medium length and of uniform width; straight up to the rump. Wide croup; fully feathered.
Ali: well developed; slightly rounded; closed, well adherent to the body and kept horizontal.
Tail: well developed; medium length; abundant and well-arched sickles; quite high flow. In the rather short and not too open hen.
Chest: wide, deep, rather low and well rounded.
Legs: strong legs, of medium length and clearly visible. Medium length tarsi; Detective stories. Fingers of medium length, straight and well spread.
Belly: full and well developed.

2 - WEIGHTS
ROOSTER: Kg. 2,75 - 3,25
HEN: Kg. 2 - 2,5

Serious faults: Narrow shape, body too short or too wide, poor chest, underdeveloped belly; presence of bearings; inclined posture and hanging wings; squirrel tail or range too low; coarse crest; traces of white in the mumps.

III-PLUMAGE
Conformation: thick and smooth and well tightened to the body without too much down; very wide feathers.

IV - COLORS:

PERNICATED RUST
COCK
Golden brown head. Golden brown cape with light black flames. Red brown to golden brown croup with little or no black flame. Back, shoulders and small coverlets of dark red brown wings. Large wing covers with tricolor design that resembles that of the feathers of the chest, black with green reflections seen from the outside. Rowigans with internal black matt beards and deep brown external beards that form the triangle of the wing. Primary remiges matt black and brown-bordered external beards. The chest design is made up of tricolor feathers which are gray-black at the base, opaque brown in the center and ends with a more or less large black pearl, design of the legs similar to that of the chest. Matt brown rear train with black spots. Black helmsman, large black sickles with green reflections, small bright black sickles with more or less brown edging, gray down jacket with brownish veiling.
HEN
Brown-red head. The upper part of the brown-red cape, which goes down to a golden brown with black flames; plumage of the rust brown coat with black peppering and more or less visible golden brown spine. Color and design of the secondary remiges similar to that of the coat. Primary remiges with matt black external beards with brown edge and matt black internal beards with brown peppering at the end. Black tail with edge of the coverts with peppering, dark salmon breast. Legs and rear train with brownish dominance and gray peppering. Gray down jacket.
Serious defects:
Rooster: very irregular overall color; absence of the three-part design in the chest, legs and wing bands; pre-edging on the black pearls of the chest; absence of green reflections in sickle cells; floury tracks.
Hen: background color too light, too dark or too irregular; pronounced light edging; absence of peeling or peeling in the plumage of the coat; spine too light; chest with pepper or black flakes; strong presence of soot; floury tracks.

ORNAMENT PERNICATED
COCK
Straw yellow to yellow brass head. Straw yellow to brass yellow cape with light brownish black flames. Yellow-orange rump with little or no brownish flame. Golden red back. Shoulders and small coverlets of golden orange wings. Large wing covers with three-part design similar to that of the breast feathers. Secondary remiges with internal matt black beards, external cream white external beards that form the triangle of the wing. Primary remiges opaque black with yellowish brown external edge. The design of the chest is formed by feathers divided into three parts, a gray-black at the base, the central yellowish brown and on the tip a more or less large black pearl. Leg design reminiscent of the chest. Black helmsman, large black sickles with green reflections, small sickles more or less edged with orange yellow. Gray down jacket.
HEN
Orange head. Upper part of the orange cape that lightens towards the base with black-brown flames. Medium intensity brown coat plumage with black peppering and lemon yellow rachis. Primary remiges with opaque black external beards with yellowish gray border. Black tail, tail coverts like the plumage of the coat. Dark salmon breast. Legs and rear train with brownish dominance with gray peppering. Gray-blue down jacket.
Serious defects:
Rooster: very irregular overall color; traces of sparrowhawk design in the cape and rump; absence of the three-part design on the breast feathers; absence of green reflections in sickle cells; other than cream white in the wing triangle; floury tracks.
Hen: background color too light, too brown-red or strongly irregular; absence of peppering or peeling in the plumage of the coat; chest with pepper or black spots; strong presence of soot; floury tracks.
